Eyebrow Hair Transplants
Where a patient is suffering hairloss in the eyebrows, the appearance is adversely affected, so the primary goal is to design and sculpt an eyebrow shape that adds dimension, glamour and drama by creating the optimum symmetry and proportion to all your facial features.
Nicely shaped and proportioned eyebrows give depth to your expression, brighten your eyes and lift your face giving it a more open appearance. They make a significant difference to the balance of your facial features.
Great surgical skill is demanded to create the correct angle at which hair exits skin and this varies along the eyebrow.
- Where the eyebrow begins near the nose, the hair points upward.
- Moving along the brow, the hairs begin to angle down from the top and up from the bottom, as they converge near the midline, moving over the eye.
Artistry and a keen appreciation for beauty and balance are critical in creating the appropriate dimensions, shape and arch of the eyebrows, taking into account and individual facial proportion. Typically, women’s eyebrows are more arched whereas a man’s eyebrows are more flattened and T-shaped.
The Eyebrow Hair Restoration Procedure
Dr. Ziering's Surgical Team exclusively use the Long Hair Transplant Technique for transplanting eyebrows, which gives ultimate visibility of the positioning of follicles as well as an instant "preview" of the finished result.
- The process begins with artistically designing the shape of the transplanted eyebrow, using the patient’s facial anatomy and bone structure as a guide
- The Surgeon and patient agree the design and shape of the eyebrow. There is little point transplanting hair into an area that the patient intends to keep plucked
- The donor hair is examined and a single strip taken from the back of the head where the hair is genetically programmed to not fall out. The difference with a long hair transplant is that the donor hair is not shaved short, but instead left at eyebrow length
- The donor hair is dissected under Ziering Scopes into single hair grafts. An eyebrow transplant requires 150 – 300 or more hairs per eyebrow depending on the degree of loss and the eyebrow design.
- Recipient sites are created with particular close attention to the angle, orientation and direction of each graft site. Using long hair grafts for the eyebrow restoration procedure helps the Surgeon in making the recipient sites at the most appropriate angles and rotations, since the full characteristics of each hair is visible
Employing this eyebrow hair transplant technique, gives both Surgeon and patient a long term glimpse of the completed eyebrows. It provides more control in the surgical process which elevates the artistic level of the procedure and ultimately gives the patient a superior final outcome.
Similar to the traditional hair transplant procedures, the newly transplanted hair will still fall out after several weeks as the follicle enters the resting or tellogen phase. Then the eyebrow hair will grow back in the set design of the eyebrow transplant during the growth or anagen phase.
Maintenance
Transplanted eyebrows require grooming and maintainence as they are scalp hairs which are programmed to grow longer than normal eyebrow hair. We offer comprehensive advice and instructions on this. In addition, an eyebrow grooming kit is available for purchase to our eyebrow hair restoration patients.
Most patients are back to their daily routines 3 – 4 days after surgery.
